Boosting Your Immune System

Proper nutrition is the most powerful defense against colds, flu and other viruses. Now is the not the time to let your guard down. Whole food, real food will beat every supplement hands down.

With schools and businesses re-opening, it’s important for you and your entire family to eat a healthy diet. Keep it simple. When choosing healthy foods, ask yourself if it came from a plant or a factory. Processed and sugary foods break down your immune system. Fruits and vegetables, legumes, rice, nuts and seeds boost the immune system.


Exercise is another way to boost your immune system. It does not have to be strenuous; it just needs to be daily. Try to get in at least 30 minutes of some type of exercise every day. Walking, swimming, biking and hiking are all great and can be done while social distancing.

Here is a super easy dish that it perfect for lunch or dinner:


Avocado Tuna Salad

  • 1 avocado

  • 3 small cans tuna, drained

  • 2 cups diced tomato

  • 3 tsp lime juice

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • Siracha to taste

Directions:

  1. Mash avocado and combine tuna and tomato.

  2. Add lime juice and chili powder

  3. Add Siracha to taste

Tuna is rich in manganese, zinc, vitamin C and selenium, which help in strengthening the immune system. Avocado has Vitamins A, C and E which are antioxidants that help boost the immune system. Tomatoes have potassium, Vitamins B and E, and Lycopene.
